Archive for Hackintosh

Hackintosh is now 10.5.4.

Using the new 9.4.0 modbin kernel. I’ve now updated my Hackintosh to 10.5.4.

I haven’t seen anywhere else that says how to install the whole update, rather than just the kernel, so i’ll say how i did it.

  1. Download the 10.5.4 update (either should be fine).
  2. Using pacifist, install everything but the mach_kernel and /System/Library/Extensions/System.kext.
  3. Then follow the instructions on the site above.
  4. Reboot. I found that when i rebooted, i had a kernel panic at shutdown. A simple power off, power on fixed this and i’m now running 10.5.4.
Hope this helps.

My Hackintosh Attempt

x5315 makes it sound so easy, that I thought I’d attempt it myself. I have an old laptop, which only has a Pentium M - which doesn’t have SSE3. However I was assured that’s not a problem; “There’s kernels for that” I was told. So what the hell, I had nothing to lose.

Hackintosh not updated to 10.5.4

I haven’t managed to update my Hackintosh to 10.5.4, unfortunately.

It would appear that it didn’t like the update, and i’ve now been reduced to a non-working Hackintosh.

So a word of warning. Always check updates before you use them, because otherwise your Hackintosh might not work.

Hackintosh: The Definitive Guide (ish)

So when i was looking for details about Hackintosh, there were no good guides. There were guides, of course, but they just didn’t offer a simple way to see what to do. So the obvious list of what to do is:

  1. Get a copy of Hackintosh. Only after you’ve bought a legal version of the Mac OS, of course.
  2. Put Hackintosh disc in machine.
  3. Install Hackintosh.
  4. ???
  5. Profit.

Hackintosh 10.5.3

I am now running MacOS 10.5.3 on all my machines.

I found the 10.5.3 Kalyway Combo Update on the ‘net. Downloaded it, followed the instructions

and Boom, now running 10.5.3, kernel 9.3.0.

I haven’t noticed a difference yet, but yey.
