Remote.app

Following my purchase of the Airport Express, i thought it would be worth doing a review of the Apple Remote application for the iPhone.

The Remote application complements the AirPort Express giving the user the freedom to move around and still be able to change the music playing on their iTunes Music Library.

The Submarines.

It also has many other features, for example, the ability to show a playlist. In fact, the method this application uses to show playlists would be much appreciated in the normal iPod application. For example, allowing scrolling through a playlist by Artist.

The application also allows for searching through your iTunes music library. This will search for anything matching the term you have entered.

One feature, that i only recently found, that makes the application even better is the setting for changing speakers. It would appear that this setting only appears when there are multiple speakers available. It allows for the ability to control where your music is, as well as what is playing. Great if you’re going to be walking around your home and would like your music to follow you, or be everywhere.

Finally, it also allows you to play Podcasts and Video Podcasts. Therefore allowing someone to distance themselves from their computer, and enjoy their podcasts wherever they feel like it.

Overall, this application is probably the best iPhone application on the App Store and, not only that, it’s free. A must-have for any iPhone owner.

Sounds like it complements Airport Express really well. The ‘Speakers’ option sounds really cool, I’m wondering if there’s a way of doing that open source…

Remote.app is on my list of applications to go on my iPhone.
