iPhone software to 2.0

Since i don’t have an iPhone 3G, i thought i would make up for this by getting the new iPhone software.

The installation took about 10-20 minutes, but my phone activated straight away upon completion.

The applications i had downloaded for it off the iTunes App Store, were synced across without any difficulties.

In the grand scheme of things, if all you’re doing is making calls and texting people, you’re probably not going to notice the update.

Base Applications

The new contacts icon and application is welcomed, but the search isn’t quite as complete as i would like. Some of my friends have nicknames, which is how i refer to them. I have placed these nicknames in Address Book. However, the search doesn’t seem to search through the nicknames.

The Mail application doesn’t seem to have changed very much, maybe a slight increase in performance but nothing substantial.

The Calendar now has the same colours as iCal, which integrates it very nicely.

MobileMe

MobileMe seems to work very well with the iPhone 2.0. I have tested the pushing of contacts, and on my GPRS connection i seem to be able to get a push speed of about 30 seconds. Which overall isn’t bad.

Applications

So far, i have installed these applications.

Hopefully, there will be more to come.
