Wired Apple Keyboard: First Impressions

I am now the proud owner of a Wired Apple Keyboard as of this evening. I’d been discussing with x5315 my desire to use Mac OS X in a more desktop environment; something I had attempted to do with my MacBook when I first got it, but found using a laptop screen, keyboard, and overall form somewhat uncomfortable for use during long periods. What I really wanted, was a nice Apple workstation, but I don’t want an iMac, I can’t afford a Mac Pro, and the Mac Mini really needs a refresh. So we came up with the idea of buying a mini-DVI to VGA adaptor and using the monitor I have for my gaming rig (which doesn’t get much use at the moment), and a keyboard. In the end, I fell for the Apple RDF and bought an Apple wired keyboard as well, and thought I’d give my initial thoughts on it.

Dinner: Finally the question has been answered

One of the biggest arguments of the North-South divide in the UK is over the meaning of the word “dinner”.

Southerners believe that it is a main evening meal.

Northerners believe that it is a main midday meal.

iPhone 3g, and why it still sucks.

Spore Creature Creator for Mac

For my first guest post on Mac Fan Boy, I decided that I needed something to set the scene of the sorts of things I’m interested in, while trying to keep things Mac related; although I haven’t been told by x5315 that I need to keep things Mac-oriented, I think it might be best considering the name of the blog!

I’m a gamer (not so much any more, but still at heart), and I’m a recent Mac convert after using Windows and Linux for all of my computing life (and thus all of my life!). I’m also pretty excited about Spore, and Spore Creature Creator was released a few days ago. They’re offering two different forms of it: a limited parts demo for PC and Mac, and a full version for just £5 available for digital download from the EA online store.

iPhone 3G tethering

In response to a recent comment by Jalada, i thought i would say something about this.

What if you have an iPhone 3G by then? I guess you wont because you will have already thought of this I’m sure, but didn’t I hear it is going to support Bluetooth tethering?

There has been quite a lot of stuff on the ‘net about this. The main quote i’ve been following is this one from 9to5Mac

The 3G iPhone WILL allow Bluetooth Tethering for laptops.  We asked about Wifi tethering and got a blank stare.  We’ll take what we can get.  They said that this was 99.9 percent certain and “Apple can always change their minds”.  Since O2 controls the network and costs involved the decision would largely be theirs.

However, there is also several places that say this:

AT&T: no iPhone 3G tethering for you!

So who knows?

I’m hoping that O2 will allow it. After all, it really would help me with my internet problems.
